Priced reasonably, much more comfortable than the tulip style I was originally given since the “occlusion effect” is negated; and no noticible difference in hearing acuity (other than things sound more natural). I have normal hearing out to about 1KHz, then a steep drop off. Some feedback if I cup my hand over my ear, but I’ll live with that for the comfort.

I was so happy to finally find a source for original Resound hearing aid domes since the company doesn’t seem to make them available to individual patients. The knockoffs on other online sites are vastly inferior. I received my first set of Nexia domes from HearingGroup in record time and feel very fortunate to have found your site.

FAQ’s About Hearing Aid Domes

How often should I change the hearing aid domes?

The frequency of changing your hearing aid domes can vary depending on factors like usage, ear wax production, and the type of dome you’re using. As a general rule of thumb, replacing them every 1-3 months is recommended to ensure optimal performance and hygiene. However, if you notice any signs of wear and tear, such as discoloration, stiffness, or a loose fit, don’t hesitate to switch them out sooner. Regularly checking your domes for any signs of deterioration can help maintain the quality of your hearing experience.

Should I replace or clean my hearing aid domes?

Whether you should replace or clean your hearing aid domes depends on their condition and your personal preference. Here are some considerations to help you decide:

  1. Condition of the Domes: If your domes are visibly worn, discolored, or damaged, it’s usually a good idea to replace them. Damaged domes may not provide a proper seal, which can affect the performance of your hearing aid.
  2. Hygiene: Regular cleaning of your hearing aid domes is essential for maintaining good hygiene and preventing ear infections. If your domes are only mildly soiled, you can clean them with soap and water. However, replacing them may be more practical if they are heavily soiled or challenging to clean.
  3. Comfort: Clean domes contribute to a comfortable fit and optimal hearing aid performance. If you notice discomfort or irritation while wearing your hearing aid, it may be time to clean or replace the domes.
  4. Frequency of Replacement: Some users prefer to replace their domes regularly, such as every 1-3 months, to ensure consistent performance and hygiene. Others may clean their domes more frequently and replace them only when necessary.

Ultimately, deciding to replace or clean your hearing aid domes depends on your needs and preferences. It’s essential to maintain good hygiene and monitor the condition of your domes to ensure the best possible hearing experience. If unsure, consult your audiologist or hearing care professional for guidance.

What if my hearing aid dome comes off in my ear?

If your hearing aid dome comes off in your ear, don’t panic! It can happen, especially if the dome is loose, has oil buildup under the dome, or you’re handling your hearing aid roughly. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Stay Calm: First and foremost, try to stay calm. Panicking can make the situation feel more stressful than it is.
  2. Don’t Probe: Avoid removing the dome yourself with fingers, tweezers, or other tools. This can push the dome further into your ear canal or cause injury.
  3. Seek Assistance: Contact your audiologist or hearing care professional immediately. They have the proper tools and expertise to safely remove the dome without causing harm. You can also contact your doctor for immediate help in the worst-case scenario.
  4. Avoid Using the Hearing Aid: Until the dome is safely removed, avoid using the affected hearing aid to prevent discomfort or potential damage.
  5. Prevent Future Incidents: After removing the dome, consider discussing ways to prevent similar incidents with your audiologist or hearing care professional, such as ensuring a proper fit for your domes, cleaning and maintaining your hearing aids, and handling your hearing aid with care.

Remember, it’s important not to attempt to remove the dome yourself, as this can lead to complications. Seek professional assistance promptly, and they’ll help you resolve the situation safely.
